UAE to host International Congress of Maritime Arbitrators in 2022
Dubai has been announced as the next host city for the ICMA Congress in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The bid to become the first country in the Middle East to host the ICMA event was put forward by the Emirates Maritime Arbitration Center (EMAC).
“I am very happy and proud to hear that the UAE is the choice to host ICMA XXII in 2022/2023. This brings immense pride to the country and the community, as it represents a great opportunity for the maritime law community in the region to showcase their expertise, ”said Majid Obaid bin Bashir, President and Secretary General of EMAC.
“Another proof that the maritime fraternity has confidence in the services of EMAC. We are delighted to be part of the organizing committee to host ICMA XXII. From its very first day, EMAC has contributed to the growth of the maritime sector through its arbitration and mediation services for the benefit of the wider Middle East, ”he added.
The ICMA is a forum for maritime arbitrators, mediators and lawyers around the world to deliberate and exchange views, and is generally attended by arbitrators, lawyers, shipowners, charterers and trade professionals.
