The international congress for sustainable development Circular Week 2021 already in October | Press releases | Asia
From October 11 to 17, the Circular Week will be held for the fourth time – an international congress promoting solutions in the field of sustainable development and the circular economy. An important partner of Circular Week 2021 is the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform, an EU organization bringing together EU stakeholders from the European Union. This year’s congress will be held under the slogan “Together for a Sustainable Future” and will include a series of expert panels, webinars, workshops and networking sessions aimed at representatives of companies, startups, groups of reflection and public administration.
– Last year, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Circular Week brought together more than 3,500 people from around the world. We have organized 56 events in cooperation with 17 countries – says Agnieszka Sznyk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Innovation and Responsible Development INNOWO. – This year we will be joined by partners from Scandinavia, Canada and Israel, which is why we are focusing even more on innovation topics that can be implemented and adapted to all markets. I welcome the growing interest in the congress, which proves the growing need to implement circular economy solutions.
The Circular Week is a response to environmental and social issues. Thanks to the concept of the circular economy, actors are starting to manage the planet’s resources wisely and to modify the functioning of the economy in such a way as to close product cycles and transform waste into precious resources. The tools designed are based on new technologies and focus on the optimal use and processing of raw materials, often second circulation.
So far, more than 30 institutions, companies and start-ups as well as embassies from European countries have been involved in the organization of the Circular Week, incl. Embassies of the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and Sweden. This year, the group of partners was joined by the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform – an organization bringing together national entities operating in the field of circular economy.
The circular economy of the future – challenges and opportunities
During this year’s edition of Circular Week, solutions to the main challenges facing the modern economy will be offered, such as: extended producer responsibility, construction of circular cities, wise food management, the development of the bioeconomy, sustainable production in the fashion industry and changes in the plastics industry. – Climate change, which we not only hear about in the media, but also experience more and more often, requires decisive action. The Circular Week is an opportunity to exchange the knowledge necessary for activities for the benefit of our planet. – comments Cezary Ludwikowski of the National Center for Climate Change
During Circular Week 2021, daily thematic sessions are planned for business representatives (Business Circular Matchmaking Sessions), dedicated to circular industry issues, such as textile and food waste, or l sustainable agriculture and industry.
