Congress on Monday appointed the leader of the party’s unity in the Punjab, Navjot Sidhu, chairman of the state electoral commission.
The members of the very important Punjab Pradesh electoral committee include the chief minister and head of the PLC Charanjit Singh Channi, Ambika Soni, chairman of the coordination committee, Sunil Jakhar, chairman of the campaign committee, and Pratap Singh Bajwa, chairman of the committee of the manifest.
“The Congress president has approved the proposal to form the Pradesh Election Committee of the Punjab Congress with immediate effect, with CPC leader Navjot Singh Sidhu as chairman,” an official statement from the party said.
All Punjab MPs, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, are also panel members, in addition to all Punjab government ministers.
