The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Congress unity has formed an alliance with the Telugu Desam party for the municipal and panchayat elections in the union territory. Andaman and Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) Chairman Rangalal Halder and Telugu Desam Party Local Unit Chairman Manikya Rao Yadav held a meeting in Gandhi Bhawan on Wednesday and decided to form an alliance.

It has been agreed that TDP will participate in the Port Blair City Council (PBMC) wards 2, 5 and 16 elections.

“In the interest of development and the pursuit of democratic rule in the A&N Islands, we have formed an alliance comprising the Congress and the TDP. We will strive for victory and I am confident that this alliance will help the Congress to win the PBMC and panchayat elections,” Halder said. .

Panchayat and municipal polls in the union territory will be held on March 6.

The notification for the Port Blair Panchayat and City Council election will be issued on February 4.

The deadline for submitting applications is February 11 while the exam will take place on February 12 and the deadline for withdrawing applications is February 14.

The election will take place on March 6 and the counting will take place on March 8.
