NAGPUR: MPCC leader Nana Patole again targeted Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) partners (NCP and Shiv Sena) over ward demarcation in the state on Wednesday, warning them Congress would be knocking on doors of the judiciary, because the whole exercise was carried out according to their convenience.
“When three parties lead the government, the delimitation should have been done by giving the leaders confidence from all the voters. Congress leaders in Mumbai and Pune had already approached the tribunal as they were upset about the new borders that would suit our partners. We had requested a two member system, but they finalized three members. If our partners take care of their benefits and the objections are not dealt with, we will move the courts,” he told the media.
Indirectly taking a dig at Sena, which heads the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), facing ongoing waterlogging issues during the monsoon, the Sakoli MP said that when Congress was in power there, the maximum city n had never faced such difficulties.
Regarding the party’s preparations for the upcoming local polls, the former president said they are always ready for it. “BJP is spending Rs40 crore on its social media team. It targets anyone who challenges the central government by stooping to the lowest level. They set the country back 50 years with their policies. We will never indulge in such tactics. We don’t want cheap people running our social media handles.
Speaking on the NCP’s stance to support Sambhaji Raje for the Rajya Sabha seat, Patole said the MVA had not discussed the issue, although Chhatrapati’s descendant Shivaji Maharaj is a highly respected figure.
Avoiding commenting on the row at the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi, Patole said Congress ideology has never brought religion into politics to be in power. “Our goal is very clear, we want to serve the country, focus on the people’s problems and try to make it a superpower.”
