CDB President and Panchayat Members Join Congress at JK
A chairman of a bloc development council (BDC) and five panchayat members joined the Congress here on Thursday, the party said.
Sudesh Kumar Sharma, Chairman of BDC, Block Dinga Amb in Kathua District, along with two sarpanches, one naib-sarpanch and two panches joined the party in the presence of JK Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chairman, GA Mir, at the party headquarters here, he said.
Also, many youths from Hiranagar Tehsil in Kathua have joined the party, he added.
The party said new entrants expressed confidence in the policies and programs of Congress and its leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Mir said Congress was rapidly emerging as the people’s only choice because of its progressive policies and democratic and secular credentials.
Secularism is India’s strength and only Congress can lead the nation on the path to peace, progress and prosperity by strengthening the secular fabric of this country, he said.
Mir said that the central government and the LG administration of JK failed to fulfill even a single commitment made with the people and instead brought misery to the common man due to their “bad “politics.
The achievement of the government is that the divisive forces have succeeded in vitiating the atmosphere of peace and harmony in the country, he said.
“There is clamor everywhere and no one feels safe under the current regime,” Mir said.
