The All Progressives Congress (APC) has indefinitely suspended its neighborhood congress committee in Zamfara state.
Zamfara and Anambra states were excluded from recent constituency, local government and party state congresses.
While the Anambra congresses were suspended due to the governor election held yesterday, the Zamfara state congress was suspended due to a leadership crisis in the state section of the left.
The National Secretary of the Interim / Planning Committee of the Extraordinary Convention (CECPC) of the APC, Senator John Akpanudoedehe, in a leaked letter dated 5 November 2021, the neighborhood congress committee in Zamfara, Mr. Ibrahim Masari, said the suspension was effective immediately.
In the letter titled: “Re: Suspension of the Parish Congress Committee in Zamfara State,” the ruling party noted that the action was aimed at ensuring further consultation to bring about a flawless exercise.
The letter read: “The National Chairman of the Interim Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) – His Excellency (Hon) Mai Mala Buni has ordered the immediate suspension of the operations of the Congress Committee of Neighborhoods in Zamfara State until new order.
“This action is prompted by the need for further consultations to ensure a smooth exercise.
“The National President strives for the understanding of all concerned as we strive to increase cohesion within our fold.
“Please pass this information on to other committee members,” the letter added.
Meanwhile, a group, the Aides of the Progressive Media of the National Assembly (NAPMAIDES) endorsed Senator Mohammed’s aspiration for the post of national president of the APC.
The date for the ruling party’s national convention, which has yet to be set, is believed to be tentatively held in December 2021.
Group chairman Oyelude Oladele at a press conference in Abuja yesterday said the group is committed to strengthening relations between progressive parliamentarians, the party and the general public through rapid dissemination and effective information for the progress of the holiday.
According to him, “our unanimous decision to support the distinguished senator Mohammed Sani Musa came after careful consideration of his leadership style.”
