Akalis to propose resolution against Tytler’s appointment to Delhi congressional committee – the New Indian Express
LUDHIANA: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Chairman Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday criticized Congress’ decision to appoint Jagdish Tytler as one of the permanent guests of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee and said his party would present a resolution at the next Punjab Assembly session in November. 8 asking for his arrest.
Addressing a press conference in Ludhiana, Badal said: “Akali Dal would present a resolution at the next Punjab Assembly session on November 8, demanding the arrest of Jagdish Tytler and other members of Congress responsible for the Sikh massacre of 1984 and the action against the Gandhi family on whose initiative it was carried out. “
“Congress supports the butchers instead of punishing them. Tytler, who is one of the accused in these riots, should be punished immediately,” he said.
Tytler’s name had come up in connection with the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
“I am here to pay tribute to all those who were killed in the riots. But if we really want to pay tribute to them, then we have to boycott the party,” he said.
He further said that SAD will come up with a resolution during the National Assembly session, which will hopefully be passed unanimously.
“The party should clarify the reason for the appointment of Tytler as one of the 37 permanent guests to the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee. I urge all Sikhs to boycott Congress,” he added.
